You Have What You Say: From Panic to Praise

Sometimes the biggest battles aren’t happening around us, they’re happening inside of us. In this message, You Have What You Say (Part 4), Pastor Keith Battle reminds us that our words reveal the condition of our faith and shape the atmosphere of our lives. Drawing from Mark 11 and other scriptures, he shows us how Jesus not only modeled the power of speaking in faith, but also taught us to trust God to work in the unseen “roots” of our situations.

This isn’t just about positive thinking. It’s about learning how to move through three essential stages of faith: from being consumed by panic, to being concerned enough to pray, to becoming confident enough to praise—even before the breakthrough shows up.

What follows are my notes and reflections from this teaching, designed to help us put the Word into practice.

Scripture References

  • Mark 11:12–14, 20–24 NLT

  • John 13:2 EASY

  • Acts 5:3 ERV

  • 1 Chronicles 21:1 CEV

  • Genesis 3:6 ERV

  • Psalm 81:10 NKJV

  • Mark 11:25 NLT

Core Teaching:

The goal is to move from being CONSUMED → CONCERNED → CONFIDENT.

  • Consumed (Panic): When you’re staring at the problem and letting fear run your mind.

  • Concerned (Prayer): Handing it over to God in prayer, asking boldly.

  • Confident (Praise): Thanking Him in advance, knowing He is working in the unseen roots.

Lessons from the Fig Tree (Mark 11:12–14, 20–21)

  • The fig tree looked fruitful because it had leaves, but it was fraudulent because there was no fruit. Jesus rebuked it and walked away.

  • By the next morning, it had withered from the roots up. Sometimes God is working in places we cannot see.

  • Note: Speak to the situation and then leave it alone. Don’t get stuck staring at it. Faith means trusting roots you can’t see.

Reflection: What am I still staring at that I should have already left in God’s hands?

The Battle for the Mind

  • The devil plants ideas (John 13:2 – Judas, Acts 5:3 – Ananias, 1 Chronicles 21:1 – David, Genesis 3:6 – Eve).

  • Just because a thought enters your mind doesn’t mean it came from you.

  • “You have what you say, but you say what you think.” Guard your thought life.

Reflection: Which thoughts have I left unchecked, and how are they shaping my words?

Prayer: Pray Big

  • Psalm 81:10 NKJV – “Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.”

  • You’ve been delivered from Egypt (bondage). Pray like a free person, not like a slave.

  • Don’t let your past keep you from the size of prayers God wants to answer.

Action: Write one “big prayer” this week that feels impossible without God.

Praise: Faith in Advance

  • Praise before you see it. God’s credit is good.

  • Thank Him for what’s working in the roots, even if you can’t see the fruit yet.

  • Shift from the prayer line to the praise life.

Forgiveness: Unlocking the Miracle

  • Mark 11:25 – Faith and forgiveness are linked.

  • A grudge may be the only thing standing between you and your answered prayer.

  • Forgiving doesn’t always mean reconnecting, but it does mean releasing.

Reflection: What or who do I need to release so my faith isn’t blocked?

Note to Self

Faith isn’t about staring at the mountain—it’s about speaking to it, believing, and leaving the results to God.
